![]() Speaking of flashing convenience, if you ever do a long road trip you may go through states without 93 octane available. That kind of changes the cost metrics - nice huh? In the case of APR, you will have to pay to go back to stock because for liability purposes it would not be a good idea to sell it tuned, even if you disclose it. However if you buy another R, you may want to keep it for yourself. At that point you should be able to get at least 50-75% of the Accessport cost back. I am currently using COBB OTS STG 2 93 octane map and I really love it - no issues and lots of fun with it.Ĭouple other points I think you missed as a Pros for COBB is that when you move on from your R someday, you can uninstall the Accessport at your convenience and sell it separately or perhaps with the car itself. As others have said, OTS maps from APR seem to be more aggressive. They claim significant improvement but I have not seen it quantified by 1/4 mile time or other metric. If you go to the COBB thread I think there are a limited few who have switch from APR to protuned COBB tune. Seems like both are pretty decent choices, I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible to help me make a decision. Also, if there are other things that I'm missing or not considering, please throw that out there as well. If anyone has any experience either owning both tunes or at least riding in both, it would be great to hear your perspective. Limp mode issues reported sporadically in both stage 1 and 2 tunes Only off the shelf tunes available with no option for additional "tweaking" Full complement of stage 2 bolt-ons and programming (~$2600 before install) from APR can be slightly less expensive than the alternative (COBB resonated downpipe, AMS IC, COBB AP ~$2950 before install and NO pro-tune) Years of experience tuning in the VW/Audi market No "APR Plus" equivalent (for at least stage 1) While COBB has developed programming for other vehicles, they are relatively new to the VW world (not sure how much this matters.) Additional cost to have the car pro-tuned Diagnostic and data logging features from the AP tool Ability to "pro-tune" at a qualified dealer that maximizes performance for each car on a very individualized basis Access to different levels of tunes immediately via the AccessPort tool and bolt-on mods are added Ability to load tune from home w/o having to install at a dealer facility With all that being said and from what I've gathered, I've compiled a list of pro's and con's for each tune: In maximizing the performance of my car, I also want to keep it as close to stock noise level as possible so I would consider spending a little more for a resonated downpipe to help with that (because you know, old). One affected user claimed that Apple has engineers working on a fix. While I've searched and read different threads on individual experiences for different stage 2 ECU vendors, I'm narrowing down my options to either COBB or APR. We reached out to Apple to see if it is aware of the issue, but we have yet to hear back. ![]() On our affected machine, nothing we have done has restored access to the tab, including force quitting iTunes and restarting the Mac.Īll in all, this is a minor issue, but hopefully one that is addressed soon. While some affected users can temporarily access the "For You" tab in iTunes after signing out and back in to their Apple ID account, the error message eventually returns. Affected users are still able to access "For You" on an iPhone, iPad, or other device with Apple Music. Many users are able to access the "For You" tab as usual, but others have been seeing this error message persist since early February. MacRumors has been able to reproduce this issue in iTunes version 12.9.2.5 on macOS Mojave version 10.14.3, although based on comments across the MacRumors forums and Apple Support Communities, the error message does not appear to be limited to specific versions of iTunes or macOS or any other parameters. ![]() When clicking the "OK" button to reload, affected users are instead redirected to the "Browse" tab. Over the past few weeks, a handful of users have reported receiving the message "an error occurred" when attempting to load the "For You" tab in iTunes, which provides personalized recommendations for Apple Music.
